Riedel Heart to Heart Central Otago Pinot Noir Glasses - finally released!!

Back in March we were treated to a wine tasting at Auckland's Northern Club with Mr George Riedel, the tenth generation head of the 300 year old company.  He boldly announced that Riedel's varietal specific glasses are "no hocus pocus" but rather carefully designed and engineered stemware developed through a reliance on physics and an understanding of the taste, aroma and overall profile of the different varieties of wine.

Did using the right glass make a difference to our enjoyment of the wine we tasted? Without a doubt they did. The right glass can even make mineral water taste different. While we had a lot of fun experimenting with the different glasses the standout for us was the Central Otago Pinot Noir glass which accentuated the fruit-forward and intense mineral characteristics of the pinot noir variety.

Back in March 2013 Mr Riedel gathered a selection of Central Otago's best wineries, including Felton Road, Mt Difficulty, Peregrine, Rippon, Akarua, Carrick, Rockburn, Quartz Reef, Maude, Mt Edward, and Amisfield to develop the perfect glass for drinking Central Otago Pinot Noir. This is the first glass in Riedel's range to be developed specifically for a new world wine region - not a bad feat for little old NZ.

This glass has been two years in the making and we are really excited to be able to add it to our large range of Riedel products.  And at the ridiculously low price of $64 for a boxed set of two we're pretty sure that our stock will be flying out the door.
